It was a hot week. We began the course with an exploration of representing intangible images, meditation through to image making. From this we explored the tangible world, lemons featured highly here.
Next we explored energies, auric fields, chakra alignment and how to do this...the seen and unseen body.
Drawing can involve an understanding of these concepts and we used this learning to create some drawings.
What about making sense of art? A big question that can cause a lot of controversy. We discussed and practised how to deconstruct the meaning of art, at Rivoli we worked in pairs to make sense of art, what we see, what we know. We also thought and shared how we connect to some exhibits, what it means to us.
We watched and discussed a presentation about art styles, meaning and reference through colour.
Using the body to make art isn't always considered. We tried to appraciate the movement in Japanese ink paintings/drawings (Suiboku-ga) by using the sword....to get a feel of the movement.
We visited the Egyptian Museum and the Museum of Oriantal Art..mandalas were our focus here...what and how do we connect with our spiritual journey.
...and so the nature. We spent a rather hot morning painting the hills and fields of Piemonte.
